Note that most ML manager have "sender filter" management.
The basic config used to avoid huge SPAM is to make the list
"subscriber only" but the address put "manually" in the sender accept filter.
Currently the mail sent by CDash are coming from:
admin@cdash.org
so that this e-mail address should be added to the sender filter
in order to make it possible for CDash to post on the concerned mailing list
without being rejected.
It may be useful if the feature is added to CDash to indicate
on the project config page
which will be the sender filter e-mail address to add to the ML. |

Why not creating a user with the mailing list email address and setup what should be sent to this mailing list that way? |

True and that was the suggestion I made in the first place on the ML:
the "fake CDash account".
Then you tell me:
"However this is
something we might add in the near future. Could you log a feature
request at http://www.cdash.org/Bug?" [^]
Thus the current bug :-)
Moreover for me it's more or less another information about the project
like CVS/SVN repo, home page etc...
However fake account is an OK solution but
there remain the need to know what is the originating address
used by CDash in order to update ML sender filter.
May be CDash may display this address on the project config page? |

I know I shouldn't wait one year to fix bugs :) If this is an installed CDash then the "from" email address is defined in the config.php (or config.local.php), otherwise there is really no way to know the from address if it's not specified. That said we can put the value of the config.php file somewhere on the project page. |

Off course you do because after one year the bug resolves itself alone :-)
More seriously displaying the "from" email defined in "config.php"
somewhere on the project page would be good.
That way the continuous integration ML admin may update the sender filter
more easilly than waiting for the first message rejection. |
