| Summary | 0003971: 'ccmake' allows user to edit fields which get overwritten anyway | ||||||||
| Description | A classical usecase is that the user runs 'ccmake',toggles some options or modifies some variables. The CMAKE_CC_COMPILER and CMAKE_CXX_COMPILER variables are however ignored and reset to the first values. A 'SET' flag may be needed to tag a variable (or option) to be unmodifyable by the user (e.g. 'CALCULATED') such that editing this variable is no longer possible in the GUI. See URL for a discussion on the cmake list. See also <http://www.cmake.org/Wiki/CMake_Useful_Variables#Compilers_and_Tools> [^] for the Wiki entry documenting this bug. | ||||||||

This is not a bug with ccmake, but rather the cmakelist files. If you set the variable to INTERNAL it will no longer be able to be edited by the ccmake or CMakeSetup. The compilers should be like that but are not right now.... |

'INTERNAL' is not a solution because it does not allow the user to view which compiler has been automatically selected. |

Sending issues I'm not actively working on to the backlog to await someone with time for them. If an issue you care about is sent to the backlog when you feel it should have been addressed in a different manner, please bring it up on the CMake mailing list for discussion. Sign up for the mailing list here, if you're not already on it: http://www.cmake.org/mailman/listinfo/cmake [^] It's easy to re-activate a bug here if you can find a CMake developer or contributor who has the bandwidth to take it on. |
