0004958: would like directory browsing to happen in separate thread

Description

Some of the directory browser calls in vtkKWDirectoryExplorer use native OS calls that can either hang or have very long timeouts. This leads to the application being unresponsive.

There may be platform-specific workarounds for this, but in general using distinct thread to probe around in the directories is probably preferable.
